Authorization to Test (ATT)

The official document allowing a candidate to schedule the NCLEX

Definition

The Authorization to Test (ATT) is the document issued by the state board of nursing authorizing a candidate to schedule the NCLEX at a Pearson VUE testing center. It includes a validity window (typically 90 days).

Process

  1. Apply for licensure with state board of nursing
  2. Register with Pearson VUE and pay exam fee
  3. State board sends ATT via email
  4. Schedule exam within ATT validity period
  5. Arrive at test center with required ID and ATT

Implications

Without a valid ATT, a candidate cannot sit for the exam. Missing the validity window requires reapplication and refee payment.
