Definition
Matrix Multiple Choice is an NGN item format that presents a grid (table). The student selects ONE answer per row from a set of column options. It commonly compares findings (e.g., expected vs unexpected) or categorizes items.
Example Structure
Rows: clinical findings. Columns: expected, unexpected, indicative of complication. Student selects one column per row.
Scoring
Often uses partial credit. Each row scored independently.
Strategy
Answer each row as a standalone question. Don't assume pattern consistency across rows.
