Definition
Generate Solutions is Step 4 of the NCJMM. The nurse identifies expected outcomes and possible actions that would address the prioritized hypotheses.
Types of Solutions
- Nursing interventions (positioning, monitoring, teaching)
- Medications (which, which route, when)
- Diagnostic tests (labs, imaging)
- Referrals (PT, OT, social work, specialists)
- Patient/family education

Strategy
Consider what is evidence-based, appropriate to the scope of practice, and what addresses the highest-priority problem first.
